Voice Notes is a browser extension that lets you dictate voice notes and have them converted to text. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.
Voice Notes does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data with the developer or any third party. The extension has no backend server of its own.
Microphone access is used solely to convert your speech to text. Audio is processed by your browser's built-in speech recognition engine (the Web Speech API) in real time and is never recorded, saved, or stored as an audio file by the extension.
The text produced from your dictation is written directly to a text file that you choose on your own device, using the File System Access API. This file stays under your control — Voice Notes does not upload its contents anywhere.
Small preferences, such as your selected interface language and note display order, are stored locally on your device using Chrome's Storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your browser.

tabs — to detect and focus an already-open Voice Notes window instead of opening a duplicate.
system.display — to size and position the Voice Notes window correctly on your screen.
Voice Notes does not request access to the content of the web pages you visit and does not run on any website.
Speech recognition is provided by your browser (e.g., Google Chrome's built-in Web Speech API), not by Voice Notes itself. Its processing is governed by your browser vendor's own privacy policy, not this one.
Voice Notes does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, since no data is collected at all.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
